Researching-photographers websites

Olivia Arthur

The first thing I notice about her website is that the images are spread about in no particular order on their first page. I like this as it allows the eye to wander around the page which could lead to people noticing things they may not have otherwise.

On the left-hand side, there are the pages clearly placed in a side collum. Each page is a different project making it easy to navigate the images you may be looking for.

The pages have a slideshow of images that you can click through along with text between images explaining her project. this is a good way to show your message without it being wordy and hard to read. This makes the overall experience of her website easier and more intriguing.

She has used to the website to also advertise her book. This is a good way to link your other works to your product.

On the page named information, there is a brief description of Olivia and what she has done. This information isn't personal it's clear and informative. Personally, I would love to know more about her connection to photography but for research purposes, they have all the information you would need.

Alma Haser

The first thing I notice about their website is that the first page is filled with one image. This is a good way to fill negative space and show off their image. In other words, you can't miss it. On the left-hand side, the pages are laid out in a collum. Under projects, there are multiple subheadings of their projects. This allows the site to have a clean look without looking empty.

On each project page, the images are laid out clearly in unison and most of the projects have an explanation at the start briefly describing his project. This explanation isn't wordy or long so its easy to read and interesting.

They have a section for their commissions which is interesting and easy to navigate. On their information page, there is a timeline of exhibitions, awards and books they have written which is a good way to see their experience and how long they have been working. They also have a description of their work which is very similar to Olivias expect with an explanation as to what their work means.

I love Hasers work and really enjoyed looking at his website. I will definitely be coming back to use him as my artist research in a future college project.

What I can take from his website is the idea of a subheading to add different projects as I think this is a good clear way to show work.
